The client's architectural background and shared educational journey with Vincent provide a strong foundation for the vision of VC Residence. Drawing on their mutual design background, the design team translates the client's preferences and aspirations into a harmonious space that authentically reflects their lifestyle. VC Residence is a testament to the shared vision between the client and Lim + Lu, capturing the client's personality in a space that effortlessly fuses architectural vision with understated luxury. The design journey of VC Residence was exceptionally innovative yet challenging. To tackle the challenge of blending styles, the designers conducted in-depth research and skillfully incorporated various elements. To tackle the challenge of style integration, the design team conducted in-depth research and subtly incorporated Japanese aesthetics into the space. The large Japanese-style sliding doors, characterized by clean lines and understated elegance, delicately separate spaces while keeping the flow of the apartment very fluid. Additionally, plaster portal frames adorn the various spaces, lending an air of architectural sophistication. Featuring a harmonious fusion of modern aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship, these innovative frames create a sense of depth and visual interest, inviting exploration within the space. To optimize the spatial layout, some existing walls were thoughtfully removed to form a circulation loop within the apartment. This creates an open, airy, and cozy living environment, optimizes space utilization, and encourages interaction. The material palette incorporates original thinking as well. It embraces the beauty of raw and natural elements, such as warm wood, delicate rattan, and textured plaster. Through the interplay of these materials, VC Residence establishes a serene connection with nature, evoking a sense of tranquility and calmness. By incorporating natural and recyclable materials like wood and rattan, it promotes sustainable practices and reduces the environmental impact of construction. These materials are renewable, biodegradable, and have lower carbon footprints than synthetic alternatives. Additionally, the use of VOC-free, environmentally friendly paints improves indoor air quality by minimizing the release of harmful chemicals. This enhances the health and well-being of occupants. The design of VC residence sets a precedent for sustainable living by inspiring eco-friendly practices and contributes to the preservation of the health of our planet and people.
