Múzsa at Four Seasons Gresham Palace, Budapest

Richmond International, created the lobby-bar interiors for Múzsa at Four Seasons Gresham Palace, Budapest. The completion of this project marks Richmond’s latest collaboration with the hotel, having first overseen its original design over 16 years ago. The original lobby space at Gresham Palace was a true masterpiece, showcasing grand design and celebrating local craft. Built in 1906 as a residence for British aristocracy before undergoing a hotel restoration in 2004, it was renovated during a period where public spaces in hotels aspired to be more reverential than multi-functional; extravagant passing spaces which provided little more than sights to behold. Responding to the changing demands that are now required from a hotel lobby, Richmond International departed from the historic trend of traditional single-use lobby design and introduced a new lobby lounge concept to Gresham Palace, fusing the building’s rich past with the needs of today’s sophisticated clientele. Múzsa now presents vibrant spaces that offer distinct guest experiences, from sampling local wines in the tasting room, sipping cocktails in the lively, central bar, providing space to work in the multiple meetings rooms or relaxing in the concierge library, in addition to the main reception. Completed in October 2020, this project epitomises the evolution of the hotel lobby. Ongoing renovations by Richmond International began in 2004 and the studio continues to be invited to work on the hotel today. The Studio approached this project with profound insight and personal affection having been integral to its transformations over the years.
