Since, MCF has operated in temporary locations and often had no physical premises from which to work. MCF then secured two long term facilities (totally 5,040 sf) within the same block. One houses administrative activities along with three practice and teaching rooms while the other is the Performance Training Centre and Concert Hall. Both facilities were operational by 2023. With these long term facilities, MCF seek to achieve: - PROFESSIONAL QUALITY acoustically and esthetically to facilitate training, practice and performance. End-of-line stock of acoustic wall coverings, panels, vinyl floor tiles and carpet tiles donated by suppliers were used. Careful location of sound reflectors and ceiling baffles was considered according to the calculations and free advices by acoustic specialists. - FLEXIBILITY to cater for classes of various sizes and age groups, community and family support, choir and orchestra practice, performances and events. At cost operable walls were used to create various size and shape of rooms to suit. - EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE use of space and elements at back office to provide reasonable work environment using recycled furniture. Paint of vivid color was applied to selected wall and as camouflage of obtrusive services at ceiling. Discontinued carpet tiles were installed for space zoning. All these help to provide the users a reasonable work environment. - CREATIVE use of limited budget and available resources, inherited fixtures, donated materials, reused furniture while welcoming contributions from suppliers and consultants. Open minded and open hearted collaboration amongst client, consultants, contractor and suppliers for a good cause was achieved. - SUSTAINABILITY by using locally available rapidly renewable materials and energy efficient lighting, equipment and appliances. LED bulbs and FORCAST LED tubes were installed at all areas. The donated off-cuts of Bolon vinyl floor tiles, acoustic panels and magnesite-bonded wood wool panel, as well as the bamboo ceiling, wall, floor in the concert hall, were either recycled or recyclable low maintenance materials manufactured by ISO certified manufacturer. All to make the voice of change for the good of Hong Kong heard OUT LOUD!
