Brief Benoy’s goal was to craft a flexible, people-centric workspace for their own people, embodying the company’s core values of innovative design, meaningful collaboration, and excellence. The new Studio prioritizes wellness, productivity, and sustainability, tailored to the evolving needs of the workforce. Project Size Spanning approximately 536 sqm on the 21st floor of The Gateway Singapore, the Studio provides breathtaking views of the downtown core and city skyline. Key Design Elements The Studio features a generous, open galleria that showcases Benoy’s rich heritage, top industry awards, and iconic projects. The design is inspired by the coziness of a home, radiating a warm and welcoming ambiance. Key elements include: Dynamic Workspaces The Studio incorporates agile working principles with distinct zones: Quiet for focused tasks with acoustic soundboards. Loud for collaborative work with ergonomic desks and communal tables. Mixed combines workstations and collaboration tables for quick breakout sessions. The Loft: A highlight of the Studio, The Loft offers an open, inviting atmosphere perfect for events, informal meetings, and social gatherings. It includes ergonomic work desks with sea views, a retractable projector screen, and yoga mats for after-work exercise. Construction Methods Our Singapore Studio currently hosts about 40 individuals, designed for future expansion to accommodate up to 60 people, aligning with our evolving workforce. Sustainability Features Sustainability was a cornerstone of the project, with several key initiatives: Furniture Reuse: Existing furniture was professionally deep cleaned and reupholstered, minimizing waste. Usable office furniture was donated to avoid landfill disposal. Eco-friendly Materials: New furniture and furnishings were sourced from cradle-to-cradle materials and locally available resources. Eco-friendly carpets made from recycled fibers and materials with the “Singapore Green Labelling Scheme” certification were used. Energy Efficiency: Workstations were placed near windows for maximum daylight. The Studio includes a waste collection system with separate bins for landfill and recycling. Biophilic Design: The Studio incorporates various species of indoor plants and green walls, fostering a strong human-nature connection. An impressive plant-to-people ratio of 16:1 was achieved, enhancing air quality and aesthetics. Material Innovations Innovative use of materials included eco-friendly carpets that can be recycled at the end of their lifecycle and low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) materials to ensure a healthy indoor environment. The incorporation of cradle-to-cradle certified products reflects a commitment to sustainable design practices. Overall Project Innovations Benoy Singapore Studio achieves a harmonious blend of communal and private spaces, enhanced by customized technology. It cultivates productivity and collaboration while prioritizing staff wellbeing through biophilic design and ergonomic solutions. Agile working policies, such as flexible schedules and varied work environments, ensure adaptability and versatility, catering to the evolving needs of the workforce.
