1.The Beijing Railway Station faces north, stretching 218 meters from east to west, a maximum width of 124 meters from north to south, an area of 71,054 square meters, and plaza in front of the station encompassing 40,000 square meters. The Beijing Railway Station is a national level protected cultural heritage site, leading to a proposal of "micro-renovation" as most suitable.

2.A neutral white color temperature of 3500K was selected for general light use, providing compatibility between the different materials employed in illumination displays and creating a warm ambiance. For decorative lighting, a warm white color with a Kelvin value of 3000 was chosen to achieve a classical architectural aesthetic. In consideration of the life span and degradation of LED lights, the target value was increased by 30%. 3.In regard to the advertising display case, neither a built-in LED light source nor external light fixtures were chosen; instead, it relies on environmental lighting, to minimize negative impact. 4.The green flat-shell shaped roof is illuminated by concealing all light fixtures above the acrylic forms affixed to the ceiling area at the top of the wrap-around corridor, and likewise concealing light fixtures in the sills of the side windows on all four facades, which illuminate the roof. The decorative lamps and lanterns installed during the original station construction were retained, while subsequent fluorescent lighting was removed. Light fixtures were arranged in the section of the ceiling between the columns on both sides, yet illuminated the whole waiting room hall by virtue of adjusting the irradiation angle: 15° vertically for the 7-meter-high space, and for the 3.1-meter entrance vestibule, an illuminating angle of deflection within 10°. 5.In keeping with the theme of "micro-renovation", the position of the previous lamps was retained. Black nickel plated-reflectors were chosen for the lamps, ensuring functionality and eliminating any glare, while maintaining the integrity of the space. This creative and innovative lighting design smoothly combines two-story galleries, a grand foyer, and train carriage entrance lighting with fixtures concealed within an artistically crafted alloy structure. This unique system provides downward illumination for the main ground level from partially hidden sources, vertical illumination for escalator landings leading to upper levels, lateral illumination for second-floor galleries, and finally, entryway illumination for each train carriage. 6.All extant decorative light fixtures to be retained were cleaned and restored, while others were relocated or removed, and new fixtures added as shown in the blueprints. In order to avoid the issue of excessive visual brightness ratio, the vertical surface brightness of the tapestry was set at 25~30cd/㎡.The ceiling height of the hall is 22.9 meters, On the first floor section of the column, the light fittings were integrated on both sides of a wooden carving, creating a three-dimensional effect. The second-floor light fittings were inserted on the ground between the columns, illuminating both the interior and exterior of the wooden carving and giving the piece depth through the interplay of light and shadow.
